Changwe Mandishi

English/French Interpreter & Translato

Changwe Mandishi holds a Diploma in French language from Nkrumah Teachers’ College, Kabwe, Zambia, in 1993 and got a diploma in commercial translation from Alliance Française of Paris from 1997. He served in the Government of the Republic of Zambia as Secondary School Teacher of French from 1994 and retired in 2019 to concentrate on interpretation and translation services for various national and international institutions.

Changwe started his simultaneous conference interpretation and translation when he was a part-time teacher of French at Alliance Française of Lusaka in 2000, and has translated numerous documents from many local and international institutions.

Mandishi was part of the team of interpreters for the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) Zambia Office during the interviews of refugees from francophone countries in their resettlement programs from 2001 to 2007, at the same time, was at the same time an official interpreter for the Government of the Republic of Zambia’s Office of the Commissioner for Refugees during its sittings to interview asylum seekers to determine their refugee status.

He has serviced several meetings of various organizations, many UN agencies such as ILO, IOM, UNDP, WHO, FAO, UNICEF and many more too many to mention. He was one of many interpreters from various countries to interpret for the General Assembly of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) co-hosted by Zimbabwe (in Victoria Falls) and Zambia (in Livingstone) in 2013.  He was also interpreter for the World General Assembly of the United Methodist Church in the United States of America (USA), Oregon State in 2016.

He is currently part of the francophone team of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), and Member of the Executive Committee of ZACIT.
